Statement of Compliance

ALJEM TECHNOLOGIES-SMC LTD operates in strict adherence to the laws of the Republic of Uganda. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, financial transparency, and data privacy.


1. Corporate Identity

CinemaHub is a product of ALJEM TECHNOLOGIES-SMC LTD, a legally registered entity in Uganda.

  • Nature of Business: Software Development, Digital Ticketing, and Technology Services

2. Regulatory Framework

2.1 URSB & Statutory Laws

We comply with the Companies Act 2012 of Uganda regarding corporate governance, annual returns, and shareholder responsibilities. Our operations are also guided by the Electronic Transactions Act, 2011, ensuring the legality of digital tickets and electronic contracts formed on our platform.

2.2 Digital Media & Content

As a digital platform listing entertainment content, we respect the directives of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the Media Council of Uganda. We enforce strict policies preventing the listing of banned, pirated, or pornographic material. Any Cinema Partner found violating these content standards will face immediate suspension.


3. Financial Compliance (AML/KYC)

Given our role in facilitating payments and managing digital wallets for partners, we enforce strict Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols.

3.1 AML/CFT Policy

We actively monitor transactions for suspicious patterns indicative of Money Laundering or Terrorist Financing. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unusual bulk ticket purchases followed by immediate refund requests.
  • Structuring transactions to evade reporting thresholds.
  • Use of payment methods associated with high-risk jurisdictions.
3.2 Partner KYC (Know Your Customer)

We do not onboard anonymous merchants. Before any Cinema can sell tickets or withdraw funds, they must complete our mandatory KYC process by submitting:

  • Certificate of Incorporation/Registration.
  • Valid Trading License.
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN).
  • Verified Bank Account details matching the entity name.
3.3 Tax Compliance (URA)

ALJEM TECHNOLOGIES-SMC LTD is a tax-compliant entity registered with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

  • VAT/LED: Cinema Partners are solely responsible for declaring and remitting the Local Excise Duty (LED) or VAT on the tickets they sell.
  • Withholding Tax: Where applicable by law, ALJEM may withhold tax on commission payments or settlements in accordance with URA guidelines.

4. Data Protection

We are committed to the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda.

  • Data Controller: ALJEM acts as the Data Controller for user account information.
  • Data Processor: We act as a Data Processor for transaction data on behalf of our payment partners.
  • Rights: Users retain the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of their data. We do not sell user data to third-party advertisers.
