This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the CinemaHub App mobile application, barcode scanner, or website.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Data

To provide our services, we collect personally identifiable information that you voluntarily provide to us, including but not limited to:

  • Identity Data: Full name.
  • Contact Data: Email address and mobile phone number (used for Account Verification/OTP and Ticket Delivery).
1.2 Usage & Device Data

We automatically collect certain information when you access our services, such as your IP address, device type (Mobile/Tablet), operating system version, and unique device identifiers. This helps us prevent fraud (e.g., enforcing our One Account Policy) and improve app performance.

1.3 Location Data

With your permission, we collect your precise location data to display cinemas and showtimes nearest to you. You can disable location services in your device settings, but this may limit the functionality of the "Nearby Cinemas" feature.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To process ticket purchases, generate QR codes, and facilitate entry at cinema venues.
  • Security & Fraud Prevention: To verify your identity via OTP, detect automated bots, and prevent duplicate accounts or fraudulent transactions.
  • Communication: To send booking confirmations, refund notifications, and important service updates.
  • Support: To resolve technical issues or disputes raised via our Live Chat or email support.

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. However, we share necessary information with trusted third parties to operate our services:

3.1 Cinema Partners

When you purchase a ticket, we share your name and ticket details with the specific Cinema you booked with. This is strictly for the purpose of validating entry and managing guest lists at the venue.

3.2 Payment Processors

Financial transactions are handled by third-party gateways (MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Flutterwave, Visa). We do not store your banking credentials, card numbers, or PINs. These providers process your payment data directly in accordance with their own security standards (PCI-DSS).

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or the Uganda Police Force) to investigate fraud or illegal activities.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (SSL/TLS).
  • Secure hashing of passwords (we cannot see your password).
  • Strict access controls for our internal admin systems.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
